Ben Mitchell
Ben Mitchell has spent the past 25+ years working in corporate affairs, government and the media. Ben's roles have included General Manager of Corporate Affairs for Rio Tinto in Australia, Director of Public Affairs for the Minerals Council of Australia and Media Adviser to Prime Minister John Howard.
As General Manager of Corporate Affairs for Rio Tinto, Ben managed government and media relations for the mining company in Australia. While Director of Public Affairs for the Minerals Council of Australia (MCA), he oversaw media, policy advocacy and campaigning for the Australian mining industry. Ben managed the industry campaign against the proposed national mining tax and other minerals sector advertising. Prior to joining the mining industry, Ben directly advised Australia's second-longest serving Prime Minister John Howard on media strategies and management. More recently, Ben managed the successful campaign against a proposed state bank tax in South Australia on behalf of the Australian banking sector.
Ben was also an award-winning journalist with The Sunday Age, The Age and The Australian; and managed media relations for Australia’s national search and rescue authority and air traffic control agency.
